‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach

This elegant deluxe resort on Kalākaua Avenue, directly across from Waikiki Beach, celebrated its grand opening in May 2018 following a project costing approximately ¥12 billion. Its sophisticated design has made it a much-talked-about choice in Hawaii. The resort is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

Address: 2490 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii 96815, USA

Highlights

1. Opened in May 2018, this deluxe hotel has an excellent central Waikiki location, directly across from the beach and close to Kapiʻolani Park.

2. Modern rooms and suites offer relaxing views of Hawaii’s signature scenery, from the Pacific Ocean to majestic Diamond Head.

③ Enjoy an open-air infinity pool and deck overlooking Waikiki Beach, along with Hawaii’s only large oceanarium inside a hotel. In 2018, InStyle magazine named the Swell Pool one of the“Top 10 Most Instagrammable Pools in America”.

4. Japanese-language guest services offer added peace of mind. For a more elevated stay, enjoy the atmosphere and amenities of the Longboard Club lounge, one of our top recommendations in Waikiki.

5. Opened in August 2019, the banquet facilities can accommodate approximately 1,000 people, and the Swell Pool Deck offers an outdoor party venue. These spaces are well suited to large groups, including company trips. Adjustable LED lighting can reflect a company’s brand colors, and company logos can be projected onto the Beachside Tower wall from the pool deck—an appealing option for anniversaries and corporate celebrations.

Recommended Room Categories

The 17-story Beachside Tower faces the ocean and has 352 rooms, all with bidet toilets.
The 39-story Seascape Tower is on the mountain side and has 487 rooms, without bidet toilets.
Approximately 60% of the hotel’s 839 rooms have two beds and a bathtub.

No.1 Diamond Head Ocean View

This is one of my personal favorites. Located in the mountain-side Seascape Tower, these rooms reveal Diamond Head as soon as you enter, followed by sweeping ocean views as you move further inside, and city lights at night. The contrast of green and blue brings together three classic Hawaiian views. Morning coffee on the lanai is a particular pleasure.

No.2 Premier Oceanfront

These rooms are in the ocean-side Beachside Tower, where bidet toilets, bathrobes, and slippers are standard. The ocean stretches out before you as soon as you enter, with nothing obstructing the view. Step onto the lanai and enjoy the sea, which feels close enough to touch.

No.3 Partial Ocean View

Partial Ocean View rooms account for 41% of the hotel’s inventory. They offer good value for a stay at a deluxe hotel with a full range of restaurants, bars, fitness facilities, and pools. Compare them with run-of-house or standard room options at other hotels.

No. 1 for Quality Longboard Club Lounge

The Longboard Club is one of ‘Alohilani’s signature recommendations. With hotel breakfasts in Hawaii often approaching $50 and an evening meal with drinks easily reaching $100, the lounge can offer excellent value, along with an inviting atmosphere and high-quality food. Mornings feature a continental breakfast and an açaí bar where guests can create their own bowls. In the evening, guests can enjoy wine and beer along with a generous selection of cured meats and cheeses.
For its location, atmosphere, and food quality, this is one of our top recommendations.

Opening Hours: Daily, 6:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.

Food & Beverage Service: Breakfast, 6:00–10:00 a.m.; evening refreshments, 4:00–8:00 p.m.

Beach Candy Waikiki

This distinctive program takes advantage of the Highgate group’s network.
Guests at ‘Alohilani receive three Beach Candy credits per room, per night. These credits can be used to rent beach equipment at the station in the Highgate group’s Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, with items ranging from beach chairs to surfboards. By participating, guests also support ‘Alohilani’s efforts to protect the environment and reduce waste. Ask at check-in for details on how to use the beach equipment rental program.

Overview

The hotel brings together contemporary lobby and room designs by the internationally renowned Rockwell Group, dining by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, and an impressive ocean-view infinity pool and pool deck with cabanas. Private lanais and room categories such as Ocean Front and Diamond Head Ocean View showcase Hawaii’s scenery. Groups also benefit from the large banquet and outdoor event spaces, with about 60% of rooms offering two beds and a bathtub. Waikiki Beach is just across the road, and the Honolulu Zoo and aquarium are approximately five to ten minutes away on foot.
